Description
A French Napoleon hat style mantel clock featuring a red lacquered wood case with Chinoiserie decoration. The case is hand-painted with scenes of oriental figures, pagodas, and landscapes in gold and polychrome enamels. The front of the case includes an inset pierced metal fretwork panel with a repeating geometric floral motif. The clock is supported by a rectangular plinth base with matching gilded decoration and rests on four small brass bun feet. The white dial features black Arabic hour numerals and an outer minute track with smaller Arabic numerals at 15-minute intervals. It is fitted with black Breguet-style hands and protected by a convex glass lens within a brass bezel. The dial is printed with the mark MADE IN FRANCE below the numeral 6. The rear of the clock reveals a mechanical, time-only movement with a platform escapement. The escapement is marked with F and S for fast and slow adjustment. A winding key is included.

Condition report:
The case exhibits surface wear, minor scuffs, and small losses to the red lacquer and gilded decoration consistent with age and use. The dial appears clean and well-preserved. The movement is untested for timekeeping and is sold as seen. Includes one winding key.
