Description
An English mechanical carriage clock retailed by the British jeweller H. Samuel. The clock is constructed with a rectangular polished brass case featuring four glass side panels and a bevelled glass viewing window to the top. The case is surmounted by a hinged, shaped carrying handle. The white enamel dial displays black Roman numeral hour markers and an outer track of Arabic numerals at five-minute intervals. The dial is signed H. Samuel in script below the centre and is fitted with black steel spade hands. The mechanical eight-day time-only movement is visible through the glazed panels. The backplate is stamped MADE IN ENGLAND and features a regulation lever marked S and F. A double-ended brass winding and setting key is included.
Height: 12.1 cm
Width: 8.3 cm
Depth: 6.4 cm.
Condition report:
The brass case exhibits visible surface oxidation and tarnishing consistent with age, particularly to the top and base sections. The glass panels appear intact without significant chips or cracks. The movement is complete but has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy or working order. Sold as seen for professional servicing.
