Lot 253:
Description
A philatelic collection comprising three primary stamp albums and an assortment of loose stamps. The albums include a Stanley Gibbons Gay Venture Stamp Album featuring a yellow pictorial softcover with a collage of international stamps; a Stanley Gibbons The Olympic Stamp Album bound in brown boards with a printed illustration of a youth looking at a world map; and The Capital Stamp Album with Maps, a red cloth-bound hardcover with gilt-stamped lettering on the front cover. The collection includes several dozen reusable clear plastic bags containing sorted loose stamps with handwritten labels for various regions and countries including Reichspost, Germany, Australia, Canada, USA, British, New Zealand, India-Italy, USA-Neerland, Denmark-Sverige, France Belgium, and Helvetia Argentina. Also present is a quantity of loose kiloware and clipped envelope corners featuring specimens from Vietnam (Buu Chinh) and France (Republique Francaise), including one fragment addressed to a recipient in Lanarkshire. The materials suggest mid-to-late 20th-century origins.
Condition report:
The albums exhibit typical shelf wear to the bindings and covers. Internal pages and stamps show signs of age and handling. Some loose paper fragments and clipped corners display curling. The collection is in a used state consistent with its age.
