Description
A group of three teddy bears of varying sizes and periods. The smallest bear is finished in brown plush with bead eyes and a stitched nose, dressed in a hand-knitted striped woollen jumper and shorts. The medium-sized bear is constructed from blonde mohair with glass eyes, fabric paw pads, and jointed limbs. The largest bear reflects an early 20th-century design with a prominent snout and elongated limbs, featuring jointed construction and internal wood wool stuffing. No manufacturer labels, buttons, or tags are present on any of the three items.
Small bear: 20cm (8 inches) height
Medium bear: 27cm (10.5 inches) height
Large bear: 38cm (15 inches) height.
Condition report:
The items are in varied states of preservation. The small bear shows significant wear and thinning to the plush. The medium bear is in fair vintage condition with general thinning and surface soiling. The large bear is in poor, distressed condition with extensive loss of mohair exposing the backing, significant tears and holes to the fabric on the right arm and left leg with internal stuffing visible, missing eyes, and historic restitching to the nose.
