Description
A Chinese cloisonne enamel bowl of compressed globular form, dating to the 20th century. The exterior is decorated with a continuous band of polychrome floral motifs, including peony and chrysanthemum blossoms in shades of pink, yellow, blue, and white, set against a pale cream and light blue ground. The decoration is bordered by a continuous ruyi-head pattern at the rim. The interior and the base are finished in a solid turquoise blue enamel. The base metal is a copper alloy, likely brass, which is visible at the undecorated rim and base ring. No maker’s marks or reign marks are present.
Diameter: Approximately 9.5 cm.
Condition report:
The bowl is in good overall condition. There is no significant loss to the enamel or major denting visible. Minor surface pitting and small bubbles within the enamel, particularly on the base and interior, are present from the manufacturing process. The exposed metal rim shows light age-related tarnish.
