Description
This collection consists of several vintage soft toys, including jointed teddy bears and an animal pull-along toy. The teddy bears are fashioned from mohair plush in varying shades of honey, grey, cream, and gold. They feature bead or button eyes and hand-stitched facial details. The largest bear displays a humpback profile and is likely wood-straw filled, in the style of early 20th-century manufacturers such as Steiff. The group also includes a grey mohair bear with a distinctive red-stitched mouth and a smaller golden bear with a yellow ribbon. The rodent toy is covered in grey mohair with black bead eyes and felt-lined ears, mounted on four cast-metal wheels. These items are characteristic of early-to-mid 20th-century British or European manufacture.
Condition report:
The collection is in fair to good played-with condition. There is visible thinning and loss to the mohair plush on all items. The largest bear shows significant wear, including a stitched replacement eye and heavily worn paw pads. General age-related wear, surface soiling, and signs of repair are present throughout the group consistent with use.
