Description
A vintage Public Service Vehicle (PSV) personnel identification badge, as issued to bus or coach drivers and conductors in the United Kingdom. The badge consists of a circular printed insert contained within a black leather holder. The holder features a teardrop-shaped upper section with a stitched buttonhole designed for attachment to a uniform lapel. The central circular window shows a white insert with a red-coloured top arc printed with the words PUBLIC SERVICE. Beneath this are the characters GG and the serial number 30200 printed in black. The reverse of the badge features a metal press stud and a central brass-toned crescent-shaped mounting clip.
Condition report:
The item is in used vintage condition. The leather holder shows surface scuffing, edge wear, and loss of original finish consistent with long-term functional use. The clear plastic window has yellowed with age and exhibits light surface scratching. The printed insert remains clearly legible despite minor fading. The brass-toned metal fitting on the reverse is tarnished, and the press stud mechanism remains functional.
