Description
A diverse collection of British insignia and memorabilia. Military items include a large gold-toned Infantry Junior Leaders Battalion shield badge featuring a central red enamel shield with a silver dagger, a Royal Army Medical Corps cap badge, a white metal thistle badge, and a white metal portcullis badge. Further service items comprise a pair of black fabric shoulder slides with gold-toned Captain rank pips and assorted brass buttons. Police collectables include a Metropolitan Police silver-toned lapel pin and a Police Collectors Insignia Association card with pins depicting Royal Irish Constabulary and Royal Ulster Constabulary constables. Civilian and scouting items feature a circular Essex fabric roundel with gold-wire embroidery depicting three seaxes, a Midland Area Discoverers Challenge scouting patch dated 1961-64, and a Royal British Legion pin on its original backing card. The collection is housed in a repurposed blue velvet-lined presentation box marked A Dartington Paperweight.
Condition report:
The items are in mixed condition consistent with age and varied storage. Metal badges show varying degrees of natural aged patina and minor surface oxidation. Fabric patches, including the Essex roundel and scouting patch, retain good colour and structural integrity. The presentation box displays minor external wear.
