Lot 174:
Description
A collection of vintage straight (cut-throat) razors of varied manufacture and style. The group contains razors with dark scales, possibly horn or vulcanite, and one example with white scales, likely bone or celluloid. The blades show different profiles, including one with a notched point and a curved edge. The razors feature maker marks to the tangs, including one example with a partial stamp beginning Kro. One set of dark scales features an inlaid oval metal emblem. Accompanied by three associated cardboard cases, one of which is clearly printed with Wade and Butcher, Sheffield.
Condition report:
All items show significant signs of age and use. The steel blades exhibit heavy oxidation, surface staining, and pitting throughout. The cutting edges show wear and several small nicks, requiring professional honing for use. The scales display surface scratches, wear, and possible drying or warping. The three cardboard cases are in poor condition, showing significant abrasions, surface loss, and structural damage to the seams and ends.
