Lot 214:
Description
This antique French brass signal horn was produced by the maker Tournier, located at 4 Boulevard St Martin, Paris. The instrument features a curved, tapering brass body terminating in a flared bell with a rolled rim. A circular maker mark is stamped onto the bell, reading TOURNIER BREVETÉ 4 BOULEVARD ST MARTIN PARIS. The horn is fitted with a black composition mouthpiece, likely made of ebonite or horn. Two integrated brass suspension loops are brazed to the body for the attachment of a lanyard or carrying cord.
Condition report:
The horn is in used antique condition. There are several prominent dents to the brass body, particularly in the flared section leading to the bell. The brass surfaces exhibit a natural aged patina with tarnish, light surface scratches, and scattered spots of oxidation. The mouthpiece appears intact and remains securely fitted. The instrument is sold as an antique item and has not been tested for playing condition.
