Lot 29:
Description
This lot comprises a collection of vintage British miniature die-cast metal figures and horse-drawn vehicles, primarily in the style of Coronation souvenirs from the mid-20th century. The collection includes a miniature royal-style state coach with a silver-coloured finish, an open landau carriage, and a smaller utility cart. Accompanying the vehicles are several teams of horses with postillion riders wearing hand-painted red jackets and black hats. Also included in the group are three unpainted silver-tone metal figurines based on Beatrix Potter characters, specifically Jeremy Fisher, Peter Rabbit, and Squirrel Nutkin. The pieces are reminiscent of work by manufacturers such as Lesney, Benbros, or Crescent from the 1950s. The items are made from white metal and the vehicles feature rotating wheels. No maker marks are visible.
Condition report:
The items are in play-worn condition throughout. Significant paint loss and chipping are present on the riders and horses. Several horse teams have become detached from the hitching mechanisms of the carriages. The silver-tone coach and Beatrix Potter figures show surface tarnishing and wear to the finish. No original packaging is present.
