Lot 37:
Description
This lot comprises a diverse collection of vintage and antique decorative objects, ephemera, and household curiosities. Included is a cigarette card album titled The Kings and Queens of England 1066 – 1935, issued by John Player and Sons. Ceramic figures feature a large polychrome gentleman in traditional eighteenth-century attire leaning against a floral-decorated stump, a smiling monk in a brown habit, and an oriental figure reclining on a green cushion.
Wooden and lacquered items include a small black chinoiserie box with gilt landscape scenes, a parquetry-style music box with a winding mechanism, and a tall, stylized black abstract sculpture. Stone and metal objects feature a carved lidded box with floral motifs, a white metal tankard, a pair of ornate filigree salt and pepper shakers, and a small metal putto on a wooden plinth.
Also included are two cased sets of metal instruments, one in a blue velvet-lined box and another in a larger white-lined case with cross-hatched handles. Further items comprise an ornate enamelled hand mirror with floral decoration, a single hand-painted Russian nesting doll, a commemorative medal in a red presentation case, and a corkscrew with a natural gnarled wood handle.
Condition report:
Items are in varied vintage condition showing age-appropriate wear throughout. The cigarette card booklet exhibits yellowing, foxing, and wear to the edges. Metal components show surface tarnish, oxidation, and signs of use. Ceramic figurines have minor surface scratches and small areas of paint loss. The wooden music box and instrument sets are sold as seen, with mechanical operations and completeness of contents untested.
