Lot 51:
Description
This lot comprises a collection of small-scale cast metal sculptures of varied subject matter and stylistic execution. Two of the figures are cast in a bright, silver-toned white metal alloy, likely pewter, and are rendered in a traditional representational style. These include a figure of a blacksmith at an anvil and a gentleman seated in an armchair reading a newspaper. Complementing these are two modernist expressionistic figures featuring a dark, heavily textured patina. These include a standing young girl and a notably attenuated violinist seated on a high chair, a piece heavily influenced by mid-century Modernism and the slender forms associated with Alberto Giacometti. This specific model of the violinist is frequently attributed to the artist Bernard Kim. No signatures, foundry marks, or edition numbers are discernible on any of the pieces from the provided images. The figures are presented on integral bases or stand on their own structural elements. Based on the boxwood ruler in the background, the violinist stands approximately 23 cm in height.
Violinist height: approx 23 cm.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in overall good condition, with no visible signs of repair, fractures, or missing elements. There is minor surface wear and light oxidation consistent with age. The patinas remain largely intact across all pieces.
