Lot 53:
Description
A pair of ornate riding spurs in the Mexican Charro or Vaquero tradition. The spurs are constructed from steel featuring heavy silver-coloured metal overlays and engraving. Each spur is fitted with a large, rotating multi-point star rowel. Attached to the rowel pins are metal jingle bobs designed to create a distinct sound during movement. The heel bands and curved shanks exhibit intricate engraving consisting of floral motifs and scrolling leaf patterns. Both spurs include attached curb chains and decorative side buttons for securing to boots. Stylized cursive engraving is present on the outer ends of the heel bands, however, the specific characters are not clearly legible for identification.
Heel band opening width: Approximately 3 to 3.5 inches.
Condition report:
The spurs are in good used condition. There is evidence of minor surface oxidation and light wear consistent with age and previous use. The engraving remains crisp and the rowels rotate freely.
