Description
A collection of mid-20th-century automotive accessories including radiator grille badges and an international identification plate. The group includes two Automobile Association (AA) badges of the pattern produced between 1945 and 1967, featuring the classic winged logo in chrome-plated metal with yellow plastic inserts. One badge is stamped with serial number 0481578 and bears the inscription Property of the AA and This badge must be returned; the second is stamped with serial number 6B86922. Also included is a Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) badge, constructed from chrome-plated metal with a circular frame surrounding a red maple leaf and a central blue oval with red CAA lettering in enamel. A Royal Automobile Club (RAC) badge is present, featuring a crowned wheel design with intertwined RAC letters in red and blue. The final item is a white painted metal oval GB international vehicle identification plate with raised black block letters, featuring a miniature AA badge mounted to the centre.
Condition report:
The collection shows various signs of age and automotive use. The AA badge with serial 0481578 displays significant crazing and amber-toned discolouration to the plastic insert along with pitting to the chrome surface. The second AA badge is in better condition with a vibrant yellow insert and minor surface pitting. The CAA badge shows light surface scratches and minor oxidation to the reverse. The RAC badge exhibits notable surface oxidation and wear to the painted detailing. The GB plate remains in good overall condition with some minor paint loss around the mounting holes and light surface marks.
