Description
A Bronze eagle mount, depicted with wings displayed and the head turned to its right. The bird is perched on a shaped base featuring stylised scroll and foliate decoration. The reverse of the piece is flat with a slightly hollowed centre, consistent with a mount designed for attachment to a piece of furniture, a clock, or an architectural element. The casting displays moulded relief detail on the front, while the reverse exhibits the characteristic rough surface of a sand-cast object. No maker’s marks or identifying stamps are visible on the surface.
Condition report:
The object displays a significant and heavy green verdigris patina over the majority of the surface. There is visible wear to this patina on the high points of the relief, exposing the underlying golden-brown base metal. There are no evident structural cracks or losses.
