Description
A vintage arrow-shaped directional sign pointing to the left, advertising Nivea Ultra Creme-Öl. The sign is constructed from heavy-gauge metal with a vitreous enamel finish. The graphic design features a horizontally split background with a yellow upper section and the signature Nivea blue lower section. The top portion is inscribed with the German text zum SKI-LIFT in dark blue lettering. The lower section displays the brand NIVEA in large white block capitals, with Ultra in red cursive script and CREME-ÖL in white block lettering below. Two pre-drilled mounting holes are located at the top and bottom centre of the main rectangular body. The reverse is finished in a dark, textured enamel. These signs were produced for use in German-speaking alpine regions as both directional markers and sun-care advertisements at ski resorts.
Condition report:
The sign is in good vintage condition with bright and vibrant colours. There are areas of enamel loss and chipping consistent with age and outdoor exposure, particularly at the arrow tip, along the outer edges, and around the mounting holes. Some minor oxidation is visible where the base metal has been exposed at the margins. Light surface scratches and minor abrasions are present across the face. A small paper auction lot tag is adhered to the front left.
