Lot 74:
Description
A 20-button Anglo-style hexagonal concertina, featuring ends with a light wood-grain effect laminate and black-lacquered chamfered edges. The instrument is configured with twenty white buttons, ten per side, and a single thumb-operated air release lever on the right-hand side. The sound-holes are arranged in a circular pierced pattern with a white fabric mesh backing. The six-fold bellows are made from green material, reinforced with nickel-plated metal corner pieces and decorated with floral-patterned tape. It is fitted with adjustable brown leather hand straps secured by metal rivets. This instrument is characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century European production, appearing to be in the style of models produced by East German manufacturers such as Scholer or Bandmaster.
Condition report:
The instrument shows signs of age and moderate use. There is visible wear and minor chipping to the black-lacquered edges and the wood-grain laminate, notably at the corners. The decorative floral tape on the bellows is lifting and peeling in several places. The leather hand straps are worn but remain intact. The internal reed condition, tuning, and airtightness of the bellows have not been tested.
