Lot 77:
Description
A vintage circular gentleman’s collar box and a collection of detachable starched collars. The box is constructed from dark brown leather with a stitched lid and a single leather strap closure that secures into a metal catch on the side. The interior is lined with tan-coloured card. Contained within is a collection of stiff, white starched detachable shirt collars. One collar is clearly printed with the maker’s mark Radiac, the model Kingstown, and a size of 15 ½. Radiac was a well-known British manufacturer, part of McIntyre, Hogg, Marsh and Co. Ltd. These collars were standard accessories for formal and business dress during the early to mid-20th century.
Condition report:
The leather box shows significant signs of age and use, including overall surface scuffing, cracking to the leather, and heavy wear to the fastening strap which is partially degraded. The metal catch exhibits some oxidation. The collars appear to be in generally good condition, though some light discolouration or yellowing consistent with age and long-term storage is present.
