Description
This collection comprises vintage metal wind instruments of traditional design. The first instrument is a military style duty bugle constructed with a copper body and brass fittings, including the bell rim, stays, and mouthpiece receiver. The second instrument is a brass duty bugle featuring a decorative braided cord wrap in red, yellow, and black, finished with two tassels. Faint incised markings are present on the bell flare of this bugle but are too worn to be clearly legible. The third instrument is a coiled post horn or duty horn, featuring copper tubing with a brass mouthpiece and bell flare. All three instruments include integrated or fitted mouthpieces.
Condition report:
The instruments are in used antique condition. The copper bugle shows significant patination and oxidation to the metal surfaces, along with several small dents and surface scratches throughout the body and bell. The brass bugle exhibits moderate tarnish and surface wear consistent with age, and the braided cord shows minor fraying at the tassels. The coiled post horn displays surface tarnish and minor scratches commensurate with age. None of the instruments have been tested for playability and no cases are included.
