Description
An assortment of approximately 35 vintage miniature cast metal figures. The collection is predominantly themed around African wildlife and ethnographic subjects, resembling the style of miniatures produced as premiums by manufacturers such as Ferrero for Kinder Surprise during the late 20th century. The group includes various animals such as lions, elephants, rhinoceroses, crocodiles, leopards, and antelopes in various sizes and poses. Human representations include African figures such as warriors equipped with shields and clubs, and figures in traditional attire. Notable specialty pieces include a silver-toned caricature of an explorer in a wide-brimmed hat, a silver-toned elephant, and a small brass-toned group of Three Wise Monkeys depicting the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil motif. The figures are manufactured from cast white metal and die-cast alloys, featuring various finishes including copper, silver, and gold-tone plating. One feline figure bears the incised inscription Leopard on its base, while other items appear to be unmarked or have illegible marks on the undersides.
Condition report:
The items are in good vintage condition. Visible surface wear is present across the collection, including rubbing and loss to the copper and silver-toned finishes. There are instances of minor oxidation and pitting to the metal surfaces, which is consistent with age and previous handling.
