Description
This assortment of mid-to-late 20th-century ephemera primarily focuses on promotional playing cards and related accessories. The collection features several prominent British advertising decks, including Guinness with its signature logo, William Grant and Sons Scotch Whisky in original blue and white boxes, and Hamlet cigars in a yellow box. A notable inclusion is a promotional box for Cow and Gate titled Babies Love it! The food the Quads thrived on! showing historical dairy branding. Souvenir items include a deck of Ireland views published for the Irish Tourist Association. Specialty decks consist of MY Jumbo Playing Cards and a Chinese-produced set marked Cartes a Jouer Lion 3054. Storage and accessories comprise a brown leather-bound double deck case with green felt lining, a tan leather case stamped Crusader Bradford Phone 22321-2, a brown leather wallet, and a 50g green Golden Virginia hand-rolling tobacco tin. Additional boxed decks include a Casino 888 set and a blue Linen Finish deck.
Condition report:
The collection exhibits a range of conditions consistent with age and use. The leather-bound cases appear generally sound with light surface marks. Various cardboard boxes show typical shelf wear, including edge scuffing, minor tears, and creasing. The Cow and Gate packaging is heavily worn with significant surface loss and rubbing. Decks have not been individually checked for completeness.
