Description
A collection of eight British and Commonwealth military gallantry awards and service medals, identified as high-quality contemporary reproductions intended for display or research purposes. The group includes two Victoria Cross (VC) reproductions, each featuring a bronze-coloured cross pattee with the inscription FOR VALOUR below a lion statant gardant on a crown, suspended from crimson ribbons with laurel-leaf ornamented bars. The collection further includes a Second World War Air Crew Europe Star, a bronze six-pointed star with the Royal Cypher GRI VI, and a Belgian Ypres (Ieper) Commemorative Medal in silver-toned metal featuring the city heraldic shield on a bicolour ribbon. The gallantry awards comprise a Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) with the George VI cypher, a Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) featuring a cross fleury with a central propeller and outstretched wings, and a Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM) with the effigy of King George VI and the circumscription GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP: to the obverse. Also included is a reproduction Waterloo Medal inscribed WELLINGTON and WATERLOO JUNE 18 1815, depicting a seated figure of Victory. All medals are suspended from their respective service ribbons.
Condition report:
The collection is in very good display condition. Ribbons remain clean and vibrant with minimal signs of fading or fraying. The medals exhibit varied finishes: the Victoria Crosses feature an applied dark patina to simulate age, while the silver-toned awards maintain a bright, polished appearance. No naming or service details are present on the rims or reverses.
