Lot 129:
Description
A vintage manual box-style coffee mill manufactured by Peter Dienes under the brand PeDe. The grinder features a square wooden carcass finished in a heavily distressed red paint. The front of the mill displays a small white oval label with black lettering that reads Pe.De. The unit is topped with a domed metal hopper and a sliding lid, fitted with a top-mounted crank handle and a turned wooden knob. A single sliding drawer with a matching wooden knob is integrated into the base for the collection of ground coffee. The internal grinding mechanism is constructed of metal.
Condition report:
The item exhibits significant surface wear consistent with age and use. There is widespread paint chipping and loss across the wooden body, revealing the natural timber beneath. The metal components, including the crank and hopper, show visible oxidation and surface corrosion. Both wooden knobs show wear to the finish. The internal drawer remains intact but shows signs of staining and use.
