Lot 189:
Description
A contemporary artisan bib-style statement necklace featuring intricate bead embroidery. The central decorative section is composed of multiple polished cabochons including two reddish-orange carnelian or agate stones, two irregular turquoise-coloured stones with visible matrix, a central banded yellow-brown agate, a large circular banded purple and white agate, a small rectangular tiger’s eye, and two iridescent blue glass faceted stones. At the base is a single dark blue pear-shaped cabochon. These stones are individually framed with seed beads in metallic silver, gold, bronze, and iridescent blue finishes. The necklace is suspended from two wide straps with multi-strand beadwork. The reverse of the bib and straps is finished with a grey and black felt-like material. The piece is secured with a silver-toned metal lobster claw clasp and a short extender chain. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are present.
Length: Collar to chest length.
Condition report:
Good overall condition. The bead embroidery is intact and secure. Gemstones show no significant surface wear or chips. The felt backing exhibits minor pilling and stray fibres consistent with occasional use.
