Description
This collection of vintage O gauge model railway rolling stock is manufactured by Hornby (Meccano Ltd). The items are primarily constructed from lithographed tinplate with die-cast or plastic wheels and couplings. The collection includes three Pullman coaches finished in the traditional brown and cream livery, individually lettered with the names VIKING, MARJORIE, and AURELIA. Each coach features the Pullman name on the upper sides. Also present is a No. 1 Goods Van in a maroon finish with a grey roof and a Passenger Brake Van with a maroon lower body and a cream upper section featuring a clerestory-style roof. The collection further includes a reddish-brown flat wagon marked with the designations 8T, E 35968, and XP 6-8. This wagon carries a white insulated container lettered British Railways and Insul-Meat, with further markings including Load 4 Tons, Tare 4.0.0.2, and FM 12612B. This flat truck is accompanied by its original red cardboard box, which displays the cursive Hornby Trains script and the gauge specification O = 32 mm. The box features multilingual product descriptions and is marked Imprimé en Angleterre.
Condition report:
The items are in a used, played-with condition. There is evidence of significant paint loss, chipping, and scratching across the collection, particularly prominent on the roofs of the Pullman coaches. Surface oxidation and small rust spots are visible on the metal surfaces of several pieces. The original cardboard box shows wear to the edges and corners with some surface scuffing and creasing consistent with age.
