Lot 44:
Description
A collection of two pairs of Chinese meditation balls, also known as Baoding balls, each set presented in a decorative brocade-covered box. The first pair features a cloisonne enamel finish on a blue ground, with one ball decorated with orca motifs and the other with red floral and geometric patterns, housed in a green fabric box with a red lining. The second pair consists of two highly polished chrome-finished metal balls contained within a black and gold patterned brocade box with a red lining. Both sets of balls are designed to emit a chiming sound when rotated in the hand. The boxes are fitted with hinged lids and small brass-tone metal butterfly latches. No maker’s marks, brand names, or country of origin labels are visible on the items or the packaging.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition. The meditation balls show no significant surface scratches or indentations. The presentation boxes exhibit minor fraying to the fabric edges and light surface wear consistent with age and handling.
