Lot 59:
Description
A mid-20th century German bar tool set consisting of a bottle opener and a corresponding display stand. The handle is formed from a natural wild boar tusk, featuring a characteristic curved profile and a polished yellowish-white surface with natural graining. The metal opener head is secured to the tusk by a cylindrical ferrule. The opener head is stamped with a circular icon above the mark GES.GESCH. 7502, denoting Gesetzlich Geschützt (legally protected). Accompanying the opener is a metal support ring featuring a single stabilising foot, designed to hold the tool in an upright position. The interior of this ring is incised with the mark SOL.NICK, indicating manufacture in Solingen, Germany, likely in nickel-plated metal.
Condition report:
The item presents in good vintage condition. The metal components show evidence of age-related tarnish, surface oxidation, and minor pitting, particularly to the ferrule and the display stand. The tusk handle exhibits natural surface variations, including fine age lines and minor surface abrasions consistent with age and use.
