Description
A collection of mid-20th-century smoking accessories and cigarette lighters featuring a variety of materials and mechanisms. The lot includes a large, heavy brass table lighter with a horizontal lift-arm mechanism. Also present is an oval, chrome-plated table lighter with a vertical striker. Pocket lighters within the group include an example with mother-of-pearl-style floral inlays on a cream ground, a tortoiseshell-effect celluloid lighter, and a slim metal lighter with an engraved linear pattern. A notable piece is a round, wooden-cased pocket lighter inset with a brass-tone medallion bearing the inscription REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE. The lot is accompanied by a small wooden box containing additional lighters, including a red and black model and a black lacquered-style piece. Also included is a long rectangular tortoiseshell-effect case with brass-tone trim and a small white accessory case with a handwritten label reading porte-papier cigarettes.

Condition report:
Items exhibit varying conditions consistent with age and use. The chrome-plated table lighter shows significant surface corrosion, oxidation, and loss of plating. The large brass lighter displays a heavy surface patina and minor scratches. The pocket lighters show variable surface wear, including light scratches, pitting to some metal surfaces, and minor loss to decorative inlays. The wooden box has light scuffing to the exterior. All mechanical components are untested and the functional status of all lighters is unknown.
