Description
An assortment of sporting and commemorative memorabilia, primarily focused on distance running and local UK achievements. The collection includes a rectangular bronze-tone participant plaque for the New York City Marathon 1982, accompanied by red, white, and blue ribbons. There are several circular official London Marathon finisher medals and multiple ribbons for the Glasgow Marathon, including examples for the Scott’s Porage Oats Glasgow Marathon. Local interest items include ribbons for the Lovell Homes Sutton Fun Run.
Boxed presentation items feature a bronze-tone medal from the Urban District Council of Denton, a 1988 Willow Park Summer League golf match winner medal, and a 1992 golf medal. A black rectangular plaque is inscribed for the Rosa Franklin School of Dancing and R. Bowden, featuring two medals marked D.T.A. A historical item included is a circular bronze-tone medal commemorating the 1911 coronation of King George V and Queen Mary. Condition report:
The items are in varied condition. Several pieces are housed in original velvet-lined presentation cases which show external wear and scuffing. Medals exhibit varying degrees of surface tarnishing, oxidation, and age-related patina. Ribbons show creasing, fading, and minor fraying consistent with age and storage.
