Lot 68:
Description
This collection comprises an assortment of Eastern and Western calligraphy and decorative writing instruments. The group includes a Chinese calligraphy brush set featuring three brushes with bamboo or wooden handles and animal hair bristles. The handles bear incised characters including Jin Bu Huan and Shanghai, and are housed in a green patterned silk-covered presentation box. An Italian Dallaiti Toscana set is included, featuring a black feather quill with an ornate cast metal grip and nib holder, accompanied by a bottle of black ink and a decorative paper scroll in a script-motif box. A European calligraphy set contains a dyed blue feather quill with a wooden grip, six interchangeable steel dip nibs, and a glass ink bottle labelled Kalligrafie Tinte, presented in a velvet-lined box. A separate desk set features a straight wooden pen holder, five steel nibs, two bottles of ink including one labelled Blue Blue, and a wooden rocker blotter with a turned handle. The collection also includes a Swiss Abraxas glass dip pen crafted from twisted clear and amber-toned glass with a grooved nib, presented in a slim black box.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall very good to excellent condition, with most items appearing unused. The Chinese brushes retain protective caps on two of the three instruments. The metal components and steel nibs show no visible signs of corrosion or pitting. The Abraxas glass pen is free from chips or cracks. Presentation boxes are intact with only minor shelf wear and age-related marks to the exteriors.
