Description
Two vintage British metal whistles. The first is a tubular pattern whistle stamped METROPOLITAN and W.M.H. This cylindrical whistle features a bulbous top with an integral suspension loop and a flared mouthpiece. The second is a snail-pattern whistle stamped THE ACME THUNDERER and MADE IN ENGLAND. It contains a visible internal cork pea and is fitted with a suspension ring. Both items are manufactured from nickel-plated brass, presenting a white metal finish. These patterns were historically produced by J. Hudson and Co. of Birmingham.
Tubular whistle length: approximately 80 mm
Snail whistle length: approximately 45 mm.
Condition report:
Both whistles exhibit surface tarnish, light pitting, and surface scratches consistent with age and previous use. The internal pea is present in the snail whistle. The nickel plating shows areas of wear and oxidation.
