Lot 142:
Description
A late 19th-century French carriage timepiece of standard Obis form. The brass case is fitted with five bevelled glass panels and a hinged rectangular carrying handle. The white enamel dial features black Roman numeral hour markers and a simple outer minute track, with blued steel spade hands. The mechanical key-wound movement features a platform cylinder escapement visible through the top glass aperture. The backplate is marked PARIS to the lower edge and features a regulator scale marked S and F for slow and fast. The clock is accompanied by its original textured brown leather travelling case, featuring a diamond-patterned grain and a maroon velvet-lined interior. A double-ended brass winding and setting key is included.
Condition report:
The brass case shows general surface tarnishing and light wear consistent with age. The enamel dial is in good condition with no visible cracks or hairlines. All glass panels appear intact. The leather travelling case is in poor condition, showing heavy wear, significant surface loss, and a broken carrying strap. The movement has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy or long-term functionality and is sold as seen.
