Description

This vintage table lighter is modelled after the Seattle Space Needle, produced as a souvenir to commemorate the 1962 World’s Fair. The piece is constructed from cast metal with a copper-toned plated finish. The design replicates the architectural profile of the tower, featuring tripod-style legs that taper towards a weighted, circular base. The saucer-shaped top section houses a manual mechanical lighter mechanism. The upper perimeter of the base is embossed with the text SPACE NEEDLE SEATTLE. The underside of the base is embossed with MADE IN U.S.A. and features a central screw for access to the fuel reservoir. There is a remnant of adhesive residue from a former paper label on the bottom.

Height: 30 cm.

Condition report:

The item is in fair vintage condition with visible signs of wear and age. There is significant loss and rubbing to the copper-toned plating on the legs and base, exposing the underlying greyish-silver metal. Surface oxidation, pitting, and minor verdigris are present on the base and around the lighter housing. The mechanical components appear intact, but the lighter is untested and will require a new flint and fuel for operation.
