Description
A collection of decorative and functional objects. The group includes a circular hand-blown art glass bowl bearing a maker’s label for Gozo Glass, Malta. The piece is designed with a deep cobalt blue interior and an iridescent, mottled exterior featuring swirled patterns of turquoise, green, and gold. Also included is a 19th-century Mauchline Ware souvenir box, crafted from sycamore with a polished finish. The lid displays a transfer-printed vignette of the Burns Monument, while the front features two circular scenes, one of which depicts Burns’ Cottage in Alloway. The box is fitted with a hinged lid and a metal keyhole escutcheon. Completing the collection is a Chinese geomantic or pocket compass (Luo Pan). The circular body is made of likely carved bone or ivory, engraved with concentric rings of Chinese characters and the eight trigrams, centred with a glazed magnetic compass. It features an intricate, pierced dark metal cover decorated with a bird amongst floral motifs.

Condition report:
The Mauchline Ware box is in fair to good condition, showing surface scratches, minor finish wear, and small indentations consistent with age. The Chinese pocket compass is in good condition with a natural dark patina to the metal components; the compass needle remains intact and functional. The Gozo glass bowl appears to be in very good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs.
