Description
This lot comprises a diverse collection of antique and vintage items across medical, scientific, and decorative categories. Featured is a nineteenth-century style surgical trepanning set contained within a mahogany case with a purple silk lining, comprising various brass trephine bits and a central handle. A second smaller case in black leatherette with a red velvet interior holds a set of precision steel tools or gauges. The collection includes several measuring and timing instruments: a large industrial gauge or timer with a white dial and Arabic numerals, a German-manufactured Haka Autoknips Mod. II mechanical camera shutter timer in its original metal tin, and a long telescoping metal probe or thermometer. Decorative pieces include a small brass model of a Victorian street lamp marked PARK LANE with an inset clock face, a rectangular handheld magnifying glass, and a series of metal bottle openers in various forms including a riding boot and a female figure. Additional items consist of a small circular inlaid wooden box, a large wooden-handled industrial tool with metal tines, a black zippered storage pouch, and a section of a wooden folding ruler.
Condition report:
The items are in fair to good vintage condition consistent with age. The mahogany case shows external scuffing and wear to the interior silk lining. Metal items across the collection display varying degrees of surface patination, oxidation, and minor pitting. The mechanical integrity and accuracy of the timer, clock, and medical instruments have not been tested. The glass and metal laboratory vessel appears to be in sound condition. The wooden components show signs of historical use.
