Description

An assortment of vintage scientific and navigational instruments, domestic items, and collectibles. The collection includes a Weston Master exposure meter in a fitted black leather case, a brass folding compass and clinometer in a black leather pouch, a pocket compass mounted within a hinged mahogany-toned wooden box, and a small circular brass-cased instrument. Also present is a multi-jointed wooden folding rule and a silver-toned telescopic propelling instrument. Domestic and decorative items feature a Tala lithographed tinplate cook’s measure with scales for ingredients such as sago and groats, a multi-coloured millefiori glass paperweight, and a ceramic pedestal egg with leaf and berry decoration. Further items include a carved wooden frog incense burner on a rectangular plinth, a gold-toned metal crucifix set with faceted clear stones, a silver-plated handbell and matching pedestal shaker, and a miniature brass-cased grandfather clock. Collectibles comprise a Harley-Davidson cast metal belt buckle embossed with Lord of the Asphalt and depicting a motorcyclist, a circular white metal box with a lid featuring a relief hunting scene, and a mahogany-toned wooden wine temperature guide engraved with French text specifying serving temperatures for wines including Champagne, Bourgogne, and Bordeaux. The lot is completed by a small group of medals and coins, including one medal with a red and yellow ribbon, and a small brass figurine of a meerkat.


Condition report:

The items show varying degrees of age-related wear and use. The Tala measure exhibits minor paint loss and surface scratches. Various metal objects display varying levels of tarnish and patina consistent with age. The functionality of the scientific and mechanical instruments has not been tested. Overall, the lot appears to be in good collectible condition.
