Lot 44:
Description
This lot comprises an assortment of vintage writing-related ephemera and decorative items. Centring the collection is a retailer’s nib display box for F. Soennecken, Bonn a/Rh., Germany, labelled as Bonna-Federn. The lid interior contains a colour-coded reference for nib sizes, including extra-fine, fine, and medium. Contents include original paper packets from Heintze & Blanckertz, Berlin, and a specific box for HARO glass nibs (Glasfedern) with the blue ball, intended for specialised glass-nib fountain pens.
Also included is a rectangular copper-toned metal casket in the Egyptian Revival style, featuring embossed relief scenes of figures, chariots, and hieroglyphs, marked EGYPT to the lower right of the front panel.
A boxed decorative plaque is present, displaying a silver-toned relief of the Great Wall of China in a satin-lined presentation case.
The collection further contains two white porcelain pulley components, likely from an early 20th-century adjustable domestic lighting system, including a cone-shaped counterweight and a bowl-shaped fitting.
Two small, bulbous cobalt blue bottles with matching stoppers complete the group.
Condition report:
The Soennecken cardboard box exhibits significant wear, including scuffing, staining, and frayed edges. Internal nib packets are yellowed with occasional small tears. The Egyptian style casket shows surface oxidation and expected wear for its age. Porcelain items have minor surface dirt and marks. The Great Wall plaque and cobalt bottles appear to be in good condition with minor signs of age.
