Lot 58:
Description
A modernist spring-loaded candle lamp attributed to Fohl, Germany. The piece features a tiered cylindrical base constructed from brushed non-ferrous metal, likely aluminium or stainless steel, rising from a circular foot. The internal mechanism contains a spring designed to advance a candle upwards against the top cap as it burns, ensuring a constant flame position. It is fitted with a large, spherical clear glass globe shade featuring a circular opening at the apex for heat ventilation. The design is characteristic of mid-20th-century industrial aesthetics. No maker marks or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The lamp is in good vintage condition. The metal surfaces show minor signs of age and use, including light scuffs, fingerprints, and small areas of surface oxidation. Wax residue is present within the internal candle housing. The glass globe is intact with no observed chips or cracks, though it exhibits light surface dust and smudging.
