Lot 62:
Description
This lot comprises a pair of large, utilitarian enamelware pitchers of matching form, commonly used as milk boilers or as components of a double boiler set. One pitcher is finished with a vibrant red exterior and a white interior, while the other features a black exterior with an off-white interior. Both items are decorated with black rims and three thin horizontal pinstripe bands encircling the body. Each vessel is designed with a flared rim, an integrated pouring spout, and a large loop handle. No maker’s marks are present on the bases or bodies.
Height: 21 cm – 22 cm.
Condition report:
The pitchers are in used vintage condition with visible wear consistent with age and use. There are several chips and losses to the enamel coating, particularly on the rims, handles, and bases. The black pitcher displays surface oxidation and rust to the underside of the base where the enamel has worn away. Minor internal staining is present from previous domestic use.
