Description
A Chinese cloisonne enamel vase of baluster form featuring a tall, flared neck and a pedestal foot. The vessel is constructed with a brass body and decorated using the cloisonne technique with fine metal wires forming distinct cells. The exterior displays a pale yellow ground densely populated with black cloud and scroll motifs. The central body is further embellished with stylised polychrome floral blooms, likely lotus, rendered in shades of red, white, and blue, surrounded by green serrated foliage. The neck is accented with several decorative bands including ruyi-head borders and geometric patterns in shades of blue, brown, and white. The rim and foot are finished with gilded metal. The interior of the mouth currently contains a blue foam insert. No maker’s marks were identified from the visible surfaces.
Height: approximately 22.5 cm.
Condition report:
The vase is in overall good decorative condition. The enamel surface displays typical minor pitting and small bubble inclusions consistent with traditional manufacturing methods of the period. There is some expected wear and light oxidation to the gilded surfaces of the rim and foot. No significant enamel losses, large dents, or structural damage were observed in the provided images.
