Description
This large-scale commemorative model depicts the British Royal Gold State Coach, produced for the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The die-cast metal model is attributed to the British manufacturer Lesney. The assembly includes an ornate golden coach featuring detailed scrollwork, symbolic figures, and a crown finial. The coach is drawn by a team of horses with postilion riders in traditional red livery and black caps. The horses are finished in white paint with red saddle rugs. The set is connected by a cord harness arrangement.
Condition report:
The coach exhibits a dulling of the gold finish and surface dust commensurate with age. There is significant paint wear and chipping across the team of horses and postilion riders, with substantial loss of the white and red finishes exposing the base metal. One horse in the rear team appears to be leaning or unstable. The cord harness shows fraying, tangling, and age-related discolouration.
