Description
An assortment of decorative and functional objects across various materials. The metalware includes a cast pewter commemorative beaker featuring relief scenes of Munich and a German inscription: Carl Spitzweg 1808-1885 Maler und Zeichner berühmter Münchener der guten alten Zeit. Also present is a cast brass wall-hanging theatrical mask depicting a comedy face. Other metal items include a circular embossed trinket box with floral motifs, a footed rectangular jewellery box with red-backed lattice openwork, a small silver-tone pill box with a relief scene of figures, and a small box set with multi-coloured cabochons. Glassware comprises two miniature cut crystal mantel clocks, one marked for Tipperary Crystal. Two large magnifying glasses are included, one with a turned mahogany-coloured wooden handle and brass ferrule, and the other with a white composite handle. Leather goods consist of a textured hip flask with silver-tone metal mounts, two circular cased tape measures with brass winding handles, and several small pouches and cases. Additional items in the collection include a blue and white ceramic lidded stein, a Roman-style terracotta oil lamp with relief decoration, a white handled clothes brush, a small crucifix mounted on wood, a baby rattle with a brass teddy bear charm, and several small ceramic and metal vessels.
Condition report:
The collection is in varied condition consistent with age and handled use. Metal components show surface tarnish, oxidation, and aged patina. Leather items exhibit surface wear, scuffing, and some loss of finish. Glass and ceramic pieces appear generally intact with minor surface scratches and abrasions. The items are housed in a contemporary cardboard storage box.
