Lot 125:
Description
A vintage wall-mounted manual coffee mill, likely produced in Northern Europe, such as the Netherlands or Germany, during the mid-20th century. The piece features a bulbous ceramic hopper decorated with a blue and white transfer-printed landscape scene in the traditional Dutch Delft style, depicting a windmill, a cottage, and a winding path. The hopper is fitted with a black-finished wooden lid. The grinding assembly is constructed from cast metal with a black finish, operated by a manual crank handle with a turned wooden grip. The entire unit is mounted on a shaped, light-coloured wooden backboard. A rectangular clear glass collection jar is held within a metal bracket at the base of the mechanism. There are no factory marks or signatures visible on the exterior of the item.
Backboard width: approximately 12.5 cm
Total height: approximately 34 cm.
Condition report:
The ceramic hopper is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs from the primary viewing angle. The cast metal grinding mechanism shows minor surface wear and light oxidation consistent with age and domestic use. The wooden backboard and handle show some light surface scuffs. The glass receiving jar appears intact with no visible damage.
