Lot 140:
Description
An assortment of four belts comprising military, youth organisation, and decorative examples. Included is an East German (DDR) Nationale Volksarmee (NVA) officer’s ceremonial parade dress belt, known as a Feldbinde. The belt is constructed from a grey fabric base featuring two woven silver-grey brocade stripes. It is fitted with a circular, silver-toned metal buckle depicting the national emblem of the German Democratic Republic, which displays a central hammer and compasses encircled by a wreath of grain. The collection also includes a vintage Boys’ Brigade uniform belt, made of dark brown leather with a two-part interlocking brass buckle embossed with the text THE BOYS’ BRIGADE. There is an olive drab military web utility belt, designed with three rows of metal eyelets and two metal sliding keepers. The final item is a brown leather belt with stamped geometric tooling and a white-metal buckle in the form of a soaring eagle with outstretched wings. A wooden ruler is visible in the background showing centimetre markings between 19 and 23.
Condition report:
The DDR parade belt is in good overall condition with light fraying to the fabric edges and minor surface wear to the buckle. The Boys\' Brigade belt shows significant age-related wear, including surface cracking and scuffing to the leather and a natural patina to the brass buckle. The web belt is in good used condition with minor paint loss on the metal eyelets and keepers. The eagle buckle belt is in fair condition with moderate surface wear to the leather and light tarnishing to the metal.
