Description
A collection of modern decorative edged weapons and fencing equipment. The group includes a Japanese-style katana featuring a blue cord-wrapped grip over a white rayskin-style handle and a decorative gold-toned tsuba. A basket-hilt sword features a silver-toned pierced metal hilt, wire-bound leather-covered grip, and a blade with etched heraldic scrollwork. Also included is a military-style officer’s sabre with a brass D-guard and an eagle-head pommel; the curved blade is etched with an eagle motif and the letters US, resembling American Civil War patterns such as the Model 1840 or 1860. The collection further contains several fencing practice foils, each designed with a tapered square-section blade, a simple circular steel guard, and a plain wooden grip. The high-polish finish and the style of the blade etchings indicate these items are modern commemorative or decorative reproductions rather than antique military originals.
Condition report:
The items are in generally good condition with minor surface wear and light scratches consistent with handling and display. The metal surfaces remain bright with no significant signs of corrosion. The hilt components and grips appear secure.
