Lot 150:
Description
A pair of early-to-mid 20th-century leather boxing gloves. The gloves are constructed from a dark brown leather body with contrasting cream-toned leather reinforcements around the lacing eyelets. They feature a traditional lace-up design, integrated thumbs, and bulbous padding at the knuckles characteristic of period sparring or muffler style gloves. The interior appears to have original padding and a soft lining at the wrist. No manufacturer labels, stamps, or marks are discernible on the exterior or interior surfaces visible.
Height: 10 inches (25.5 cm)
Width: 7 inches (18 cm).
Condition report:
The gloves exhibit significant signs of age and historical use consistent with their vintage. There is widespread surface cracking, scuffing, and deep patination to the leather. The cream-coloured leather around the eyelets shows some staining and wear. Stitching remains largely intact, though it shows some fraying in high-stress areas. The original laces are absent.
