Description
A collection of seven cased flatware and cutlery sets of varied design. One presentation case, lined with white silk, contains a thirteen-piece set consisting of twelve small spoons and a larger sugar spoon. The interior lid features an oval cartouche marked Gero Zilver, identifying the Dutch manufacturer Gero. These pieces are decorated with foliate Art Nouveau style terminals. A two-piece serving set, comprising a large spoon and fork with heavily embossed ornate handles, is presented in a light blue-lined case. The collection further includes six dessert forks in a red-lined case and six modern-style pastry forks in a blue case with a beige lining. Three additional sets of spoons are present: a twelve-piece set of coffee spoons with circular terminals and iridescent tarnish; a six-piece set of teaspoons with gilt-washed bowls in a royal blue-lined case; and a six-piece set of plain tapered-handle teaspoons. The items appear to be silver-plated or white metal. No hallmarks are clearly visible on the individual items in this group, though the Gero set is identified by its case marking.
Condition report:
The items are in good vintage condition with varying degrees of surface tarnish throughout. Significant iridescent tarnish is visible on the bowls of several spoons. The presentation cases show external wear, scuffing, and some internal staining consistent with age and use.
