Description
This lot comprises a diverse variety of items including a professional wooden slide rule housed in a black textured protective case. A cream-coloured plastic stereoscopic viewer and a round magnifying glass with a red plastic handle. Two compasses are present, including a black lensatic-style compass and a cylindrical brass maritime-style compass with a glass top. A long black graduated rule or gauge is contained in a clear plastic sleeve. Sporting and toy items include a miniature souvenir cricket bat marked William Gunn Autograph 1932-3 Australia Tour, a tinplate Magic Rotary kaleidoscope featuring nursery-themed lithographed illustrations, and two sets of hand-painted nesting dolls, one with traditional floral motifs and one depicting Santa Claus. Tools and grooming items consist of a boxed Global stainless steel mane puller, a vintage Home Barber Kit in a yellow pictorial box, and two T-handled wood-boring gimlets. Decorative objects include a small dagger with a brass hilt and black grip in a matching sheath, a carved green stone letter opener, a commemorative football medal set in a red velvet-lined presentation case, a small framed miniature portrait, and a triangular black wooden fan case. The items are presented on a large circular silver-plated tray featuring a pierced gallery and two ornate cast handles.
Condition report:
All items show varying degrees of age-related wear, surface patination, and tarnish to metal components. The silver-plated tray displays some surface scratching and tarnish. Original cardboard packaging for the mane puller and barber kit shows scuffing and edge wear. Optical elements are intact but require cleaning for clarity; mechanical functions and accuracy of instruments are untested. Sold as seen.
