Description
A vintage promotional collector’s album titled The Great British Regiments, published by Texaco Limited circa 1973 in association with the National Army Museum. The large-format card folder features a front cover illustration of Lady Butler’s painting Scotland for Ever!, depicting the charge of the Royal Scots Greys at the Battle of Waterloo. Internally, the album includes a printed foreword by Lieutenant-General Sir Brian Horrocks KCB, KBE, DSO, MC. The main display board contains a collection of reproduction British Army regimental cap badges, struck in metal with gilt and silvered finishes. The collection represents various regiments including The Life Guards, The Blues and Royals, The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, The Queen’s Own Hussars, 17th/21st Lancers, The Royal Tank Regiment, Royal Regiment of Artillery, The Corps of Royal Engineers, The Foot Guards, and various infantry regiments such as The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and The Parachute Regiment. The slot for the 14th/20th King’s Hussars contains the original black plastic silhouette spacer. The credits at the base of the interior page acknowledge the assistance of the National Army Museum, Major Brian Davies for editorial content, and printers Sackville Smeets Ltd.
Condition report:
The exterior card folder shows visible shelf wear, including scuffing to the front and back surfaces and bumping to the corners and spine edges. Internally, the display board and badges are in generally good condition, with most badges retaining a bright finish. The collection is incomplete, lacking the metal badge for the 14th/20th King\'s Hussars, which remains as the original black plastic silhouette.
